Tech News: Official launch date now set for June 25 in the West

Samurai Shodown was previously slated to release on June 27, but now that date has been pushed to a few days earlier along with some new perks that are sure to please fans of the series and those currently on the fence about picking it up.

SNK released a new trailer for Samurai Shodown today titled “Return of a Legend” that gives insight into the fighting games various modes along with the announcement that the title will now come out on June 25 and that players who pre-order or pick it up within the first week will gain access to the Season Pass for free.

Players can purchase the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One physically or digitally anytime between now and June 30 to receive the first six months of additional content for free including four additional characters that have yet to be revealed.

After that initial period, the Season Pass will cost 2,000 yen or likely $20 USD. The first additional character is scheduled to hit the game in August, the second in October, December for the third and February 2020 for the final fighter.

On top of that, the company finally revealed their special plans for their potentially game-changing use of AI to replicate users’ play styles in SamSho to hopefully evolve how we train and improve.

The “game is watching you, learning, calculating and mapping your play style” to produce a special AI ghost fighter built to battle just like you according to SNK. Players can fight against their own ghosts in Dojo Mode to find weaknesses in their play. Ghosts can also be downloaded from online to play against friends or the best players in the world even if they aren’t online.

Samurai Shodown is also slated to have a rebooted story mode taking place before the original title though no footage of it was shown off in the new trailer which you can check out below. Nintendo Switch and PC versions of the game are currently in development with release dates set for later in 2019.
