Vivaldi 2.5 is now live and this update turns Opera 12’s spiritual successor into the first browser to feature full integration with Razer Chroma — the world’s largest lighting ecosystem for gaming devices. Other noticeable changes are the ability to resize Speed Dial thumbnails and improved Tab Selection options.

Now that the 2.5 update is live, gamers who are serious about their environment have no more excuses to avoid the spiritual successor of Opera 12, namely Vivaldi. This web browser has just become the first one in the industry to feature Razer Chroma integration, so now its users can “enjoy a thrilling and immersive browsing experience with lighting effects on Chroma-enabled devices.”

Vivaldi was also the first browser to provide smart home integration with Philips Hue, so adding Razer Chroma support is not such a big surprise. To enable it, just go to Settings > Themes, tick the box “Enable Razer Chroma integration,” pick the devices that should be in sync with your browser, and that’s all. Obviously, the integration only works on PCs running Windows.

Vivaldi 2.5.1525.40 also brings the ability to adjust the size of Speed Dial thumbnails, but it also makes it easier to select tabs with the new commands via Quick Commands, Keyboard Shortcuts, and Mouse Gestures — all of these can be customized in Settings.

In addition to all the above, Vivaldi’s latest update includes quite a few tweaks and fixes, as usual. If you’re one of the lucky ones to have a full Razer Chroma-compatible peripheral set, it would be great if you could show the rest of us a video of your Vivaldi-Razer duo in action. Feel free to drop the link to the images or videos in the comments section, of course.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
